🌟 Elevating Educational Content Through Editing and Consulting

Educational content has the power to inspire, connect, and create change—but only if it reaches the right audience. That’s why I launched Gardy Learning Design Studio, where I bring together years of experience in teaching, editing, and consulting to help educators, authors, and changemakers craft content that truly connects.

From EdTech publishing to small business guides and self-help books, my mission is to elevate ideas so they shine—clear, compelling, and discoverable.

My Journey

I’ve always been drawn to the power of writing. During my final year of undergrad, I tutored multilingual students and discovered a passion for helping others strengthen their voice. That led me to Washington, DC, where I earned my MA in TESOL at American University and launched a career in teaching and content development.

I taught ESOL in Maryland high schools and community colleges, working with learners from adult literacy to advanced academic writers. Later, as an English Language Fellow in Serbia, I taught composition and rhetoric while leading teacher training across the country.

Returning to the U.S., I joined the Department of State as a Writer‑Editor and eventually advanced to Technical Writer‑Editor and program manager. There, I directed editorial production for global English language educators, shaping inclusive content strategy and developing multimedia learning tools. One project—Panels and Perspectives: Creating Comics in the English as a Foreign Language Classroom—sparked a virtual exchange replicated 16 times, reaching more than 1.5 million learners worldwide.

Along the way, I designed and facilitated 200+ professional learning events, co-hosted the Critical Creativity in Action YouTube series, and presented at 60+ global conferences including SXSW EDU, ISTE, TESOL, FETC, NCTE, EduCon, and internationally in Serbia, Estonia, Russia, Indonesia, Romania, and South Africa.

After a short transition, I spent this past summer learning how to build a business, brushing up on proofreading and copyediting skills, and soft‑launching Gardy Learning Design Studio. My first client was Carl Hooker with his new book, Zengaged: An Educator’s Guide to Teaching the Anxious Generation—a project I loved editing, and I’m thrilled to see it doing well. Since then, I’ve been steadily busy: editing colleagues’ LinkedIn profiles to sharpen their professional presence, hosting consulting calls with authors and potential authors, and joining professional communities like the Editorial Freelance Association and the Editor’s Tea Club. I also attended ACTEM in Augusta, Maine, presented at MASSCUE in Foxboro, Massachusetts, participated in the Editorial Freelance Association’s annual online conference, and went to the ATD (Association of Talent Development) conference in Washington, DC. Each of these experiences has helped me refine my services, expand my network, and lay the foundation for the consulting‑editing business I’m building.

What I hope to do

Now, as Founder of Gardy Learning Design Studio and an Independent Consultant & Editor, I specialize in:

  • EdTech and business materials—from books to handouts.

  • Educational content optimization—resources that enhance learning and critical thinking.

  • SEO for EdTech Authors—an upcoming service to help authors and educators make their work more discoverable.

  • SEO editing for educational technology books and articles—long-form projects that need both polish and visibility.

My goal is to support educators, authors, and small business leaders in crafting content that connects with audiences and achieves impact. Behind the scenes, I’m developing packages (one-offs and retainers) that make editing seamless, while also offering consulting support and creative educational materials.

How I Can Help You

When you work with me, you don’t just get editing—you get a thought partner. Each package combines professional editing with consulting support, so you have someone to brainstorm with, refine ideas, and ensure your content connects with the right audience.

  • Error-Free Essentials (Proofreading + Consult) The final polish plus a professional check-in. I’ll catch typos, grammar slips, and formatting inconsistencies, and we’ll talk through your goals to make sure your work is not only clean but aligned with your vision.

  • Style & Flow Upgrade (Copyediting + Voice Alignment) Sentence-level refinement with strategy built in. Together, we’ll ensure your tone, clarity, and flow resonate with your audience. This isn’t just copyediting—it’s a collaborative process to align your voice with your brand.

  • Big Picture Review (Developmental Editing + Strategic Partnering) A deep dive into structure, pacing, and ideas. I’ll help shape your message from the foundation up, offering both editorial expertise and consulting guidance. You’ll have a partner to brainstorm with, refine your message, and ensure every element works in harmony.
